Request for future review of “Bloods: An Oral History of the Viet Nam War” by Wallace Terry, a book I never get tired of reading.

Incredible stuff in there. For instance the black infantry telling of finding a white brother with his skin peeled off. But Wallace is the kind of journalist I don't like, ambitious like Halberstam, and the book is the kind of representation of black Americans I find in bad faith, dishing up the oppressed to frighten. Tough to say since Wallace is of course one of the brothers. But he is still writing about the grunts from the same social distance as Herr. Hard to talk about. The discourse on black Americans in the occupation of RVN is stupid and vapid because it is full of these landmines. No one who knows anything about it wants to open their mouths. See how I have been approaching the matter following John Williams. Well hey, I guess I do have something to say about Terry's book. Will take a look.
