Please consider giving a hand up to the launch of Viet Nam Letters here on substack, Wednesday, February 9.
Three times each week I will introduce briefly, in a learned and lively manner, a book that has something to do with the nation of Viet Nam. Likely you will not have heard of the work or its author before,
and that may be the last you want to hear of them. But somebody among you will want to read the book.
I will write about each one again and again, always in brief, always in an entertaining and informative way. When I have chewed every bite I will edit all the posts on an author into one essay for publication by the Viet Nam Literature Project.
You will have supported scholarship in a dispersed body of work around a fragmented nation integral to the modern world, publicizing its books and authors along the way. Please consider digging $50 or $250 deep for an annual subscription.
Please also consider subscribing without fee to read the new posts and consult the old ones in the archive. What makes an author, a book, a literature, a nation, a world
of nations is the sovereign people giving them audience. Friends, countrymen or whatever, lend me your ears. I will hand them back with interest.
Pay me your money and I will appreciate it.
Dan
